Pre-Alpha research software
Tokai is currently in Pre-Alpha (v0.1.0). It is an experimental research prototype developed as part of a master's thesis at National Taiwan University. By accessing or using Tokai, you acknowledge that the software is provided for research and testing purposes only and is not production-ready.
Not for clinical use
Tokai is not a medical device and is not intended for clinical, diagnostic, or therapeutic use. The Focus Index, neural metrics, and any AI-generated insights are experimental and should not be used to make medical, psychological, or clinical decisions. They do not substitute for professional medical advice.
Eligibility
Access to the Pre-Alpha is currently limited to invited testers and early adopters. By using Tokai, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and are using the software voluntarily for research or evaluation purposes.
Your API key
If you use TokAgent, you provide your own Anthropic Claude API key. You are responsible for your API key and any costs incurred through its use. Your API calls are governed by Anthropic's Terms of Service. Tokai does not store or transmit your API key beyond your own browser.
No warranties
Tokai is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We make no guarantees regarding availability, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose. The software may be unstable, change without notice, or be taken offline at any time during the pre-alpha period.
Intellectual property
Tokai's source code is open source and available at github.com/TokaiApp/Tokai. The Tokai name, logo, and brand assets are the property of Seth Austin Harding. Use of the brand for commercial purposes without permission is prohibited.
Research & SBIR/STTR
Tokai is being developed with the intent to apply for SBIR/STTR federal research funding. Participation in the pre-alpha may contribute anonymized, aggregated insights to this research effort. No personally identifiable information is collected in Pre-Alpha. Future data collection will require explicit informed consent and will comply with applicable federal research ethics guidelines.
Changes to these terms
These terms will evolve significantly as Tokai moves from Pre-Alpha to Alpha and beyond. Material changes will be communicated to registered users before taking effect.
